With the sad news of Bens Best closing its doors after 75 years, now is the time to experience their delicious offerings before it's too late. Whether you're a fan of their knishes, pastrami sandwiches, or matzo ball soup, Bens Best has something for everyone to enjoy. Don't miss out on a taste of this beloved institution before it becomes a distant memory.

I came back after 35 years and it was good but not the same from what remember. Pastrami was lean turkey was great tongue. Pea soup was ok derma ok sour pickles ok all in all 8.5 out it 10 Still y'all this was much better than the deli down south where we've been living.

Another great pastrami sandwich gone but not forgotten !!! Enjoy your retirement Jay you deserve it !!! Health & Happiness always !!! You & your resturant will surely be missed !!! Thank you for all the love & hard work you but in every bite !!! Greg D & family

Bens you will forever be missed!! Each time I stopped in your staff had a smile and served me a large plate of whatever I ordered. Ranging from the hot pastrami sandwiches to the hot dogs. The menu is large with something for everyone. The pastrami always very bountiful and juicy. Where will I go now? With two days before closure I made sure to stop in and try one last time the very best items had to offer. Granted my stomach wasn't big enough for all the food I ordered but I had a taste of the pastrami on rye with mustard, matzah ball soup, Cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato salad and Good old fashion cream soda. Don't judge me! It had to be done. Granted they were out of there delicious fat pickles but I had a little of everything and don't think I would of had room for any more. Everything was delicious as always. Service too notch, although the wait was over 45 minutes for a table. It was well worth it. Go run now before this legend closes down and only a distant memory. :( You will be missed Bens and thanks feeding us all these years!!

One of the most iconic businesses of the borough and certainly one of the oldest, Ben's Best has been a mainstay in Rego Park. Some would argue this establishment is an institution of sorts and I'd be inclined to agree. They are as iconic as they come, gathering hordes of fans over the years and becoming an NYC staple in the process. As far as Jewish deli cuisine is concerned, it doesn't get much better than this place. I have managed to enjoy everything from the matso ball soup to the potato latkes to some quality meat knishes. The meats in particular have been the biggest draw, especially the hot pastrami, brisket, and even the tuna fish have been wonderful. I have opted for the "Ben's Best" sandwich on many occasions, which is a large, but flavorful concoction of the two best meats. There is also the Ben's Challenge, which for roughly $30 gets one a large 1 Ib of meat sandwich with a plate of fries, matzoh ball soup, pickle, and coleslaw to be consumed in an hour. If one is successful, their picture will go up on a wall where they are recognized for all to see. Lately, things haven't been so kind. Business has been on a major decline and owner Jay Parker has been looking to get out of the business that his father started in 1945. Unless action is taken (i.e. bought and sold), Ben's will then close at the end of the month. I hope to be able to dine there one last time before the inevitable, Owner Jay and his team are a classy bunch. I for one will miss Ben's so very much.

If you haven't been here, come before the end of the month. So sad to hear this place is closing. Due to the bike Lanes, it created less parking for customers. One the employees doesn't think the owner will relocate and it's what stores like this that makes a community unique. I hope the city will do something to save this establishment. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the pastrami and knish while I can. Hope you will too.

This is not just a Jewish deli in Queens. This is an INSTITUTION. There used be hundreds of delis all over the city. After watching Carnegie Deli close, 2nd Ave deli re-locate and a bunch of well known city establishments, it is a shame to see this place go out of business. I am a native New Yorker and I believe that it is my responsibility as a fellow Yelp elite to always help a business that I love succeed. This is not just to preserve the delicious food that comes from this restaurant, but the culture that comes from Queens. Certain policies have an impact on small business owners and policy makers are indebted to these small business owners to preserve what's best of their city and Ben's is surely one of the BEST. In Queens. And I can say this because this is where I grew up. This is a place where I've had some of my first meals. This is engrained in my culture. I urge everyone to make a trip to this place. Not trying to knock another business down, but I would rather make the trip out here to have a matzo ball soup and frankfurter than to hop on a 15 minute train ride to Russ and Daughters. The food is absolutely wonderful and I really do not want to see the knish-wich go. I recently celebrated my birthday on Friday with the cocktail franks and knishes. On that same day was the day that I read articles about this restaurant closing. This is alarming and upsetting, especially since all of my friends personally came up to me to ask what was in the knishes and franks. They all loved it. And these are young people in their 20s and 30s. This just proves that the food at Ben's Best is loved by everyone---from little children to young adults to the alta cochers. This will not be my last review, because I am pretty sure that I can help them to stay in business. I will not witness another closing of a great establishment that I love.

It is with great sadness that I write my last review for Bens Best. After 75 years Bens is closing their doors. Jay Parker the owner told us that lack of parking (due to bike lanes on Queens Blvd) and the changing demographic in the neighborhood has led to their closing. My other review is still valid as nothing here has changed. It's still the best Kosher deli in NYC. I hope Jay the owner can relocate to another area, but if he can't it's been a good run. I'll miss this place. Go check it out before the end of the month.

So, so good! I went here with my mom and we both loved it. She ordered the chicken soup and we split a pastrami sandwich. The portions are huge; we also had cole slaw and pickles. All of the food was extremely tasty. I would definitely come back and get another sandwich here - it's really easy to get to too. And there's plenty of street parking. The waitress was very friendly and even though the place was pretty crowded the service was really fast. I loved it here, and I would definitely go back!

Ben's Best follows a long tradition of kosher Jewish Delis in New York. And for someone who didn't grow up in New York, a Jewish Deli is like a homey, heartwarming, hearty Jewish-American meal. This is an essence of New York that you cannot just get anywhere. In the 1930s, there were 1500 Delis in New York City, alone. Est in 1945, Ben's is one of 150 Kosher Jewish Delis left in the nation. Luckily for me, I have lived near a Jewish Deli in the 8+ years that I have lived in NYC. So I can satiate that matzo ball soup craving when the weather gets cold. The best items that I have found are their pastrami sandwich and their matzo ball soup. The matzo ball is fluffy light and the chicken soup is delicious for a cold day. Dill is sprinkled in the soup, which adds a fresh taste and BB's soup allows you to customize your salt content. I always add a sprinkle with my soup. The sandwich is generous with a juicy half fatty half lean slices of hot pastrami. Pro tip: Ben's is much better for dining in instead of take out. If you order in the deli, you get a big dish of coleslaw and sour and dill pickles. And the matzo ball soup is much larger if you eat in the restaurant.
